"Up beyond the mouths of the Aldur River is the Drasnian border. They call it the Mrin Marsh up there, but it's all the same swamp. It goes on for another thirty leagues or so beyond Kotu at the mouth of the Mrin River."
Belgarath in Castle of Wizardry

The beginning of the Aldurfens, often referred to as just "the fens" Belgarath said in Castle of Wizardry, chapter 17 that, "Up beyond the mouths of the Aldur River is the Drasnian border. They call it Mrin marsh up there, but it's all the same swamp. It goes on for another thirty leagues or so beyond Kotu at the mouth of the Mrin River."

The way through the fens is indefinite because of floating hummocks of vegetation that are constantly shifting wherever the winds and currents push them. There are no permanent channels.

This was also where Vordai, the "witch of the fens" lived with her Fenlings.
