Asturia was one of the three original Grand Duchies of Arendia, and is one of the two surviving duchies, allied with Mimbre to form the sovereign nation of Arendia. Asturian nobles are noted archers and bowmen.
Asturians often dress in green garb, which helps them blend in with the forest. They are noted for guerrilla warfare.
The Arendish Civil Wars were vicious and long-lived internecine struggles for dominance of that country, brought to an enforced conclusion after the Battle of Vo Mimbre when the Mimbrate and Asturian heirs - Korodullin and Mayaserana were married by edict of the Accords of Vo Mimbre. Tensions remained throughout the Belgariad and Malloreon chronicles however.
The ancestral seat of the Asturian Duchy was Vo Astur. Lelldorin of Wildantor was an Asturian.
In comparison to historical details, they are much akin to Robin Hood of the 13th century to English Longbowmen of the 15th century.
